June Volunteer Spotlight – Tracie Livesay, ACP

NALA Volunteer Spotlight – June 2022
Tracie Livesay, ACP

Tracie Livesay, ACP, worked as a paralegal for 18 years, mostly in civil litigation. She now manages two paralegals as a Director of Regulatory Operations at a national corporation and helps train future generations of paralegals as an adjunct instructor in her local community college’s Paralegal Studies program.

Tracie currently serves on NALA’s Certifying Board, a feat she counts among her professional accomplishments. “The Board members are the most intelligent, professional, creative, energetic, committed, and passionate group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with (I know that’s a lot of adjectives, but they deserve each one!),” she said.

She had a few words of advice for upcoming paralegals.  “I’ve always told my paralegal students to get a few years’ experience under their belt and then find their passion.  There are so many different areas of law and, if you love the law, you will find your passion in one of those areas.  Don’t be afraid to branch out because you may be passionate about more than one area.  Not every paralegal task is exciting, but you need to have a job that you are excited to do every day.  In my paralegal career, I always found that every day was different – some better than others – but always unique and educational.”

Tracie has been married to her husband for 26 years. They have three sons. The oldest is in the Marines and married, and the other two are in college. “I’ve always said, ‘I work in the legal field, and I live with four males, therefore, I’m not easily shocked or offended.’”
