Description: Real property such as office buildings, apartment complexes, or vacant land is an expensive and risky investment. Paralegals assisting purchasers, lenders, or investors in real property are tasked with reviewing title records and surveys of the real property that such parties wish to purchase, take a security interest in, or invest in. This session aims to prepare paralegals to understand the various needs of the transaction parties with respect to real property, to conduct title and survey reviews that address those needs, and to assist the parties in resolving any issues that are revealed by such reviews.

Presenter Biography: Eva M. Merrell, MBA, ACP, has been a real estate and finance paralegal for 25 years. She frequently presents CLE sessions for various organizations, including NALA. Eva is the author of the Real Estate chapter in NALA’s Certified Paralegal Exam Fundamentals and numerous articles.
Eva received her MBA from Western Governors University, her BS in public administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and her paralegal certificate from the American Institute for Paralegal Studies. She has been a NALA Certified Paralegal since 1996 and has obtained the NALA Real Estate, Contracts Administration/Contracts Management, and Land Use Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP®).
