The objectives are as follows:

At the conclusion of this presentation, a participant will be able to:

  • understand the basics of copyright law,
  • explain and apply the concepts of expression, fixation, originality, ownership, notice, registration and duration regarding written and Internet-based forms, 
  • utilize and employ the ideas of fair use, public domain, expiration and forfeiture as exceptions to copyright requirements,  
  • discuss and describe how the law affects copyright owners,
  • recognize recent court decisions on the subject and analyze them,
  • identify and evaluate current pieces of legislation involving copyright and
  • apply knowledge of copyright fundamentals real-life situations.
