NALA Volunteer Spotlight – October 2022
Sarah C. Duggan, CP
Sarah C. Duggan, CP, received her associate degree in Paralegal Studies in 2021, and since then she has hit the ground running. She works as an intellectual property paralegal at Dority & Manning, P.A., a boutique law firm based out of Greenville, South Carolina. She became a Certified Paralegal in 2021 and that same year won NALA’s Student of the Year Award.
Sarah serves as the First Vice President of Programs at the South Carolina Upstate Paralegal Association. She also serves on NALA’s DEI Committee. She says she wanted to volunteer for NALA for “the opportunity to create and contribute to meaningful content published on a national level promoting the importance of a diversified and inclusive work culture for all paralegals.” She also looks forward to networking and collaborating on professional projects with paralegals located across the United States.
When asked what her favorite aspect of paralegal work is, Sarah replied, “Using my writing and communication skills in researching legal issues and prioritizing a client-focused mindset while performing substantive legal tasks under the supervision of her attorneys.”
Sarah lives in Greenville, South Carolina with her husband and French bulldog Schöne (meaning “beautiful” in German.) Her favorite hobbies include ballroom dancing, hiking, researching clean health and beauty, cooking Italian food, and watching true crime documentaries on Netflix. One of her top five favorite movies is Erin Brockovich. One of her favorite books of all time is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.
Sarah’s advice to her peers and upcoming paralegals is “Always foster a sense of curiosity and never be afraid to ask questions. Join a NALA Affiliated Association in your state and prioritize both personal and professional growth.”
