People with disabilities in America are covered by numerous laws that provide for equal treatment and anti-discrimination, the primary source being the Americans with Disabilities Act. This introductory seminar will discuss the history of the ADA, the five titles of the ADA, and an overview of laws provided in the ADA. Attendees will review scenario-based examples of the ADA’s provisions and learn how to file a complaint for discrimination. The seminar will also review laws and resources in addition to the ADA that provide protection for people with disabilities.

Presenter Biography: 
Olivia Renfroe, ACP, has nearly 20 years of experience in the legal industry. Olivia holds a BS in paralegal studies from Mississippi College. She spent most of her career working in litigation and currently works with her attorney husband at their Mississippi real estate law firm, where she handles matters including debtor bankruptcies, business formations, and real estate litigation. She previously served on the boards of legal industry associations and presented on legal topics. Olivia is accompanied by her service dog, Casey, who is task-trained to mitigate a disability. Olivia is passionate about education and knowledge-building in the paralegal field.
