Internet Law – Communications Decency Act

This session will cover the basic immunities provided to interactive computer service providers under the Communications Decency Act of 1996. Additionally, discussion will include recent proposals by Congress and the Department of Justice to modify the law out of concerns that the immunities originally enacted are now too broad. Key issues include the purpose of the Act, legal requirements for invoking immunity, and public policy considerations.
