Presenter Biography: 
Julie Girard practices in labor, employment, and litigation. She represents employers in all stages of litigation, from pre-suit negotiations through administrative proceedings, mediation, and trial. Julie has broad experience defending employers in discrimination, retaliation, family and medical leave, and wage and hour cases. She regularly advises employers on compliance with various labor and employment laws, including the preparation and review of employment contracts, severance agreements, and employee handbooks and policies. Prior to joining Phelps, Julie was an associate at a nationally recognized Am Law 100 firm.

Helen Jay has handled a variety of labor and employment law cases, including disputes brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and corresponding state laws. She represents employers in defending against charges of discrimination and retaliation filed with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
