Hello Affiliates, 

I hope all of you are doing well and enjoyed Sharon’s and my videos in the New Year’s edition of the Affiliate Connection. 

Thank you to all the Affiliates that have turned in your annual reports. If you have not done so, please do so soon.  

Speaking of the annual reports, your Affiliated Associations Director, Sharon, and I, along with the NALA Affiliates Team at headquarters, have read every one that has been submitted. We have heard your voice through those reports and the Affiliate Town Halls regarding the concerns and issues NALA Affiliates are facing, and NALA is doing something to help with those concerns. You may be wondering what that is…  

It is the special NALA Conference add-on session for NALA Affiliates on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 7:30 AM to 1 PM Eastern. The early start time allows you to travel back home on Sunday afternoon. 

The add-on session for Affiliates is called Growing and Strengthening Your NALA Affiliated Association. It will be led by seasoned facilitator Shelley Cadamy, whose wealth of experience spans decades of empowering boards, including the prestigious NALA Board of Directors and numerous boards of Affiliated Associations, and will cover the following topics that encompass the concerns you have relayed to us: 

– Introductions and Expectations
– Unveiling the Role of a Board of Directors
– Assessing and Elevating Your Board’s Potential
– Fostering Committee Dynamics
– Mastering the Art of Effective Board Meetings
– Cultivating Future Leaders
– Member Recruitment Demystified
– Igniting Membership Engagement and Loyalty
– Navigating NALA-Specific Topics and Requirements
– Planning for Seamless Succession 

The cost of registering for this special add-on session for Affiliates is: 

– NALA Member: $150 per individual attending (breakfast and snack break included)
– Non-Member: $175 per individual attending (breakfast and snack break included) 

I encourage all of you to attend this special session, which is tailored for Affiliated Association Presidents, NALA Liaisons, and members who are interested in helping their Affiliated Association grow and in “equipping paralegals for the challenges of the future through certification, professional development, and advocacy.”

Speaking of the NALA 2024 Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, from July 11 through 13, please check out all the information regarding CLE sessions and events here. Please remember, if you cannot attend the 2024 NALA Conference & Expo in person, you can attend virtually. If you are attending in person, do not forget to register your association for a table at the Affiliate Showcase on the evening of July 11, as this is a great place to show your Affiliate’s accomplishments over the past year and market your Affiliate with some swag. 

Finally, please remember these important dates and deadlines: 

– Nominations for Affiliated Associations Director and Affiliated Associations Secretary due May 1, 2024, 5 PM Central
– Nominations for NALA Affiliate Award due May 1, 2024
– Registration for a table at the Affiliate Showcase due May 1, 2024
– Affiliates need to choose their Designated Voter for the Affiliated Associations election by May 15, 2024.
– Mid-Year Reports due to NALA HQ on June 8, 2024
