Description: Toxic work environments lose talent, especially younger workers who are less willing to tolerate negative behaviors in the workplace. This session will define incivility and describe its impact on work culture. It will examine the hidden costs of work environments that do not create boundaries for acceptable workplace behavior. Participants will explore strategies to combat these behaviors to create a collaborative and productive work environment where they can respond effectively to rude behavior from coworkers or clients.

Presenter Biography: John M. O’Brien, PhD, is a psychologist, executive coach, speaker, and author based in Portland, Maine, whose work centers on helping people live and work with more civility and compassion.
