March 2026 Volunteer Spotlight – Abigail Dahl, ACP

Abigail Dahl, ACP, brings corporate leadership experience and a strong commitment to professional standards to her volunteer service with NALA. She serves as Ethics Committee Chair and as a member of the Professional Development Committee (PDC), focusing on highlighting the value of ethical responsibility, professional presence, and continuing education.
Outside of NALA, Abigail is a Contracts Manager for SLB (Schlumberger), a global energy and technology company. She also serves on the board of Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and an Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP®) credential in Contract Management.
Abigail chose to volunteer with NALA because she believes in “strengthening the professional standards and long-term credibility of the paralegal field.” As her career progressed into higher-level business and legal roles, she saw firsthand how “high expectations of performance, strong ethical frameworks, and a culture of continuous development” are essential to successful organizations.
“I want to help shape a profession where paralegals are empowered to grow, lead, and pursue broader opportunities,” Abigail revealed.
She recognizes NALA’s high expectations for education, certification, and professional development, and hopes to see those standards applied across the profession so that “excellence is the norm.” She believes that when paralegals hold themselves and each other to such a level of professionalism, it will result in “greater recognition, influence, and appropriate compensation for the critical work they perform,” which aligns perfectly with NALA’s vision.
“My goal is to contribute to a professional environment that develops talent, supports ambition, and elevates the visibility and impact of the paralegal career path,” she shared.
Abigail values the meaningful conversations she has had with fellow volunteers who have the same dedication to advancing the profession. She looks forward to collaborating and strategizing with them at the PDC’s upcoming spring meeting.
Her advice to members is to view the profession as a landscape of possibility—one where growth, leadership, and new paths are available to those who seek them.
“Carry yourself with professionalism, invest in your education, pursue certification, take ownership of your growth, and think beyond traditional role boundaries,” she encouraged them.
Family anchors Abigail’s life outside of work. She loves spending time with them whenever she can. The second of six children, Abigail remains close with her parents and siblings. She is married to her high school sweetheart, who has been her best friend since they were 13, and serves as her greatest inspiration.
“He is the strongest and most self-possessed person I know, and I aspire to his level of confidence and authenticity.”
They have a 19-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son who are her pride and joy. They also have two cats who keep them laughing.
In her free time, Abigail enjoys reading, playing piano, singing, winding down in front of the TV, and spending time outdoors. Cooking and baking are her creative outlets, and she prioritizes staying active.
Through her professional work, volunteer leadership, and personal life, Abigail demonstrates discipline, passion, and a commitment to excellence. NALA and the paralegal profession owe her their thanks.
