July Volunteer Spotlight – Kaila Glaros, ACP

NALA Volunteer Spotlight – July 2022
Kaila Glaros, ACP

Kaila Glaros, ACP, says her favorite thing about working as a paralegal is having an impact on someone’s life or business. “When you’re in a field of law where you can help someone and see how running the case through to the end makes an impact, it makes you want to keep going in this field.”

Kaila received her bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies from St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, Florida. She is a Certified Paralegal and has her Advanced Certified Paralegal designation in Contracts Management, Trademarks, and Business Organizations: Incorporated Entities. She works as a Senior Associate – Paralegal at her company and teaches Law Office Management as an adjunct professor in the same program she graduated from.

Her advice to upcoming paralegals is to get organized. She says, “If you’re not a naturally organized person, BECOME ORGANIZED. Set up systems for yourself that you follow every time, create checklists, label things a standard way, and create templates for yourself.”

Kaila first decided to volunteer with NALA after attending her first Conference & Expo. “When I walked into my first NALA Conference, which I was specifically attending to take the CP review course, everyone was so kind and helpful, and I knew I wanted to be involved with NALA in the future. Paralegals in the field were not always kind, but I never got that feeling at NALA and I wanted to be that person for someone else.” She currently serves on NALA’s Professional Development Committee and is a previous member of the Continuing Education Council. In 2018, she received the NALA Outstanding Contribution Award, which she considers among her greatest professional accomplishments.

Kaila lives in Land O’Lakes, Florida with her husband Johnny, two-year-old Olli, and 12-year-old dachshund, Dash. Some of her favorite hobbies are traveling, reading, and learning. She says she has too many favorite books to pick just one, but the Harry Potter series is near the top. One of her favorite movies is The Breakfast Club, and her favorite TV shows are The Office and Golden Girls.

When asked if she could meet anyone past or present, she replied, “Jesus and the Founding Fathers for the same reason. They get written about a lot and I’d love to hear their thoughts straight from the source!”
