Description: Legal teams increasingly work with public records, digital material, witness accounts, agency statements, and AI-assisted research. The danger is treating all evidence as equally reliable. Drawing on experience as a detective, educator, and investigative journalist, Brandon Burley presents a repeatable method for labeling evidence, testing corroboration, and documenting uncertainty. Participants will explore how to distinguish allegations from findings, identify unsupported inferences, verify AI-generated leads, and build an evidence ledger showing what the record proves—and what it does not.

Burley is a retired Tennessee detective, former infantry Marine, criminal justice educator, investigative journalist, and host of The Redemption Project, recipient of a 2025 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Podcast of the Year award. His work focuses on public records, evidence classification, institutional accountability, and explaining complicated systems in plain language. He helps professionals distinguish what a record establishes from what it merely suggests.
