Description: By 2030, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) aims to have all beneficiaries in Traditional Medicare, and most in Medicaid, in an accountable care relationship with their providers. Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are the primary vehicles for reaching this goal. This session offers a comprehensive overview of ACOs and their role in transforming the US health care system. Examine the structure and purpose of ACOs, regulatory requirements under CMS, and the legal and financial implications of value-based care. Explore the challenges and opportunities in coordinating care, reducing costs, and improving patient outcomes within the ACO model. Presenter Biography: Tracie Livesay, ACP, is the Director of Regulatory Operations for a national healthcare company and has over 30 years of legal and academic experience. Tracie worked in a law firm environment for 18 years, primarily in civil litigation, before moving into the corporate sector. She holds an MBA and has taught legal and business courses as an adjunct instructor for 15 years. Tracie is an Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP®) in Civil Litigation and Contracts Administration/Contracts Management. She has been a member of NALA’s Certifying Board since 2017.
