This is the Brevard Paralegal Association Annual Membership Meeting and CLE. The evening will begin with the election of officers, followed by dinner and CLE.

1. Identify the statutory basis and historical foundations of civil asset forfeiture in Florida, including what constitutes contraband under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act.
2. Distinguish between seizure and forfeiture phases, including arrest requirements, key exceptions, probable cause review, and the applicable burdens of proof.
3. Apply civil forfeiture principles to common law enforcement scenarios, considering search and seizure issues, economic and crime-prevention purposes, and Eighth Amendment concerns.
