Description: This advanced, specialized course is designed for paralegals looking to deepen their expertise and enhance their skill sets in the crucial area of legal discovery. This comprehensive program is tailored to equip you with an in-depth understanding of the discovery process, strategies for efficiently managing discovery tasks, and the intricacies of dealing with electronically stored information (ESI).
In this course, we will discuss each rule of Title V of the Federal Rules for Civil Procedure (FRCP), which focuses on Disclosures and Discovery. While this course focuses on Federal Rules, remember that most state courts have comparable rules that may be organized or numbered differently.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate mastery of the legal principles and rules governing disclosures and discovery under Title V of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), including the scope of discovery, limitations, and the duty to disclose.
- Accurately identify and categorize the types of information required for initial, expert, and pretrial disclosures.
- Develop skills to efficiently handle requests for discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for document production, and admissions.
- Evaluate the relevance and scope of requests and how to assert objections and claims of privilege properly.
- Demonstrate expertise in managing the challenges associated with electronically stored information, from preservation and collection to review and production.
- Navigate ethical considerations and confidentiality issues regarding disclosures and discovery.
Earning the Discovery Advanced Certified Paralegal Credential:
