SEALA’S 2026 Annual Seminar/Pro Bono: Closing the Justice Gap in Georgia/Self Care

August 21 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT
$60 – $150

Southeastern Association of Legal Assistants (SEALA)

Session #1: Multi-Paralegal

Session 1 Agenda: 2026-SEALA-SEMINAR-BROCHURE-needs-NALA-approval.doc

Learning Objectives:

1. Assets: I want to discuss how our contribution as legal assistants and paralegals is important. In my experience, I have become efficient in drafting pleadings, help prep for trials, help with research, and all of these skills have allowed the attorney I work for to focus on the bigger issues or bigger aspects of the cases. Our qualities and skills are a huge asset.
2. Healthy Relationships: In this discussion I will explain how building healthy professional relationships with the attorney you work under, as well as your co-workers, help you become more efficient. You build trust, making it for an easier work environment and ultimately enjoyable. Of course it is not always smiles and laughter, but having a good relationship also helps during busy, stressful and tense times. Also learning how the attorney works and what they need/like.
3. Specializing in areas: I find it very useful to specialize in areas. I am not saying stick to one area. In this firm, Herb specializes in Maritime Law, specifically an area in worker’ compensation. While we do other areas as well, I have become very familiar with this area. This allows me to manage the cases better and alleviates the attorney’s workload.
