DESCRIPTION:American Bar Association – Section of Family Law\nThere are four separate Courses in this one-day Zoom program: \n1) QDROs for Paralegals: Essential Training to Support Attorneys in Divorce and Asset Division Cases\nThis course is designed for paralegals who want to deepen their expertise in Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and enhance their role handling the division of retirement assets. This course explores the nuances of QDROs\, with a focus on practical strategies for navigating complex retirement plan requirements and avoiding costly delays. \n2) Legal Writing for Paralegals: Strengthening Persuasive and Analytical Skills Elevate Your Writing to Support Stronger Legal Arguments\nThis legal writing course is designed for paralegals who want to refine their ability to write with clarity\, precision\, and persuasive impact. Focused on real-world application\, the program teaches paralegals how to craft professional legal documents that effectively support attorneys and contribute to case strategy \n3) Tracking it All Down: Discovery in Family Law\nThis double-sized session will focus on the paralegal’s role in discovery in family law matters\, with an emphasis on the various methods and processes available to find the information necessary for a successful resolution. Our speakers will break down the benefits of written discovery and depositions\, when and how to deal with unexpected service issues\, and how best to keep track of what you have and what you still need\, including a deep dive on the impact of AI advancements in discovery matters. \n4) Are they ok? : Strategies for Identifying and Managing Relationships with Clients with personality disorders\, substance abuse disorders and other mental health issues.\nIt is estimated that one in five Americans live with a mental illness. As such\, it is no surprise that Family Law cases often involve parties struggling with mental health or substance abuse disorders\, which can create challenges to the legal professionals helping them. In this program\, experienced and accomplished psychologists will provide an overview of the types of mental health issues most common to family law cases and will offer strategies for how to best respond to the characteristics of these disorders that can impede successful communication with and assistance to such clients. \nCLE Hours = 5 Substantive
