Candidate 2022: A. Teresa E. Phillips, ACP
Candidate for Office of Treasurer
Candidate Question: To be a truly great board member requires having good character, a strong commitment to the paralegal profession, the gift of time, and a willingness to use personal and professional resources to advance NALA’s mission. Tell us your “why”. Why are you interested in serving on the NALA Board of Directors? Tell us about a prior leadership experience where you have moved the dial, shifted the mindset, and ultimately, influenced decisions.
Candidate Response: I have really enjoyed my service in the Utah Paralegal Association (UPA). I have served as NALA Liaison, Education organizer and Election Judge. Organizing the CLE and study group for the CP Exam was so much fun. My personal mission within UPA has been encouraging other paralegals to take the CP Exam because taking the CP exam was one of the best things I have ever done. This local leadership experience has helped prepare me to take on the role of NALA Treasurer.
I understand the responsibility the position of Treasurer involves. It requires someone with detailed focus on the use of monies contributed by NALA member through membership dues, annual conference fees, NALA study guides, etc. Being treasurer is a fiduciary responsibility to all NALA members. I have the abilities and passion required to carry out this task. I am detail-orientated. I have been and continue to be an active member of NALA and the Utah Paralegal Association. I enjoy being with each of you, learning from you, and assisting in any way possible. I’m asking for your vote because I strongly believe that I have something to offer you. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and our profession.
