Responsible for clerical and technical support to the Department of County Lands in the acquisition and disposition of real estate. Work includes: providing detailed research and analysis, preparing correspondence and reports, initiating special projects and routine clerical functions. Responsibilities include frequent contact with: constituents, property acquisition agents, land technicians, appraisers, buyers, sellers, County staff, state and/or federal agencies, engineers, consultants, title companies and constitutional offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researches and replies to public inquiries, verbally or in written format.
  • Drafts and prepares correspondence.
  • Reviews closing documents for accuracy.
  • Represents County at closings. Initiates and researches special projects, providing detailed analyses, reports, summaries and proposals.
  • Establishes and maintains transaction files and databases.

Supplemental Information:

  • Knowledge of real property terms and principles regarding real property transactions.
  • Knowledge of statistical research and reporting techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, understand and follow detailed instructions, coordinate several projects simultaneously through to completion, effectively initiate and research special projects, write summaries and reports in a clear, concise manner.

Preferred applicant will be a paralegal, with at least an Associate's degree in real estate law and strong office management skills. Expected pay range is $35,000-$50,000 per year, plus benefits.

Requirements or Qualifications: 
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in real estate law, engineering, paralegal, appraisal or closely related field and two years of work experience in a related field. An Associate's degree or greater is preferred, together with knowledge of local zoning/land use, surveying, and governmental and Florida real estate procedures and laws, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access & Outlook). Two years of experience in abstracting or title examination is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Class "E" driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
