The environment in which we conduct business requires HIIQ to comply with Insurance laws throughout the country. HIIQ must observe and comply with insurance company guidelines, as well as relevant federal and individual states' laws. The company deals with regulation relating to licensing of corporate entities, agency and call center regulations, as well as a variety of other legal issues. The Paralegal will assist the Legal team in managing workflow and maintaining necessary spreadsheets.  It will file UCC-1 liens and handle licensing for Designated Licensed Producers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain individual insurance licenses for the company's Designated Licensed Producers
  • Collect information for responding to regulatory requests and outside counsel needs
  • Draft, review and file UCC-1 and other liens
  • Support the Legal Team in management of outside counsel in regulatory matters
  • Assist in management of legal matter work flow
  • Research state and federal insurance statutes as needed
  • Flexibility to perform any other tasks assigned

Attendance Requirements:
Due to the nature of Health Insurance Innovations needs, regular and reliable attendance is required. Individuals must be able to work at least a 40 hour work week, Monday through Friday, and be available as situations arise requiring extended hours.

Requirements or Qualifications: 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree or JD in a related field preferred
  • Paralegal Certification preferred
  • 4+ years of compliance and/or regulatory experience as a paralegal is required with experience in the Health Insurance industry being greatly preferred
  • Effective communication skills, suitable for working with all levels of the organization and externally
  • Track record of effective project coordination and timely submission of deliverables
  • Demonstrable competency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of legal drafting tools/software/web resources is preferred 
  • Organized with the ability to handle the finest of details effectively
