What is the Legal team responsible for?
The Franklin Templeton Investment Legal team provides practical legal advice and services to support the organization and operation of Franklin Templeton’s business globally.   

What is the Legal Specialist – Private Funds responsible for?
The successful candidate will be part of the Franklin Templeton Investments legal team supporting the K2 alternative asset management business and acting under the supervision and direction of the Associate General Counsel.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Legal Specialist – Private Funds?

  • Responsible for assisting attorneys in connection with the structuring, launch and ongoing legal operations of K2 private funds and accounts
  • Assist attorneys in preparing, drafting, revising and executing disclosure documents, agreements, board resolutions, side letters, filings and other documents
  • Responsible for coordinating execution, filing and organization of documents in Legal files shared drive
  • Maintain department spreadsheets and track multi-jurisdictional fund corporate or regulatory filings and oversee Reg D and Blue Sky Filings Process
  • Liaise with corporate secretary and registered office providers
  • Responsible for entity dissolution/corporate liquidation process 
  • Draft documents based on templates and revise documents based on attorney comments
  • Administer underlying fund proxy process
  • Respond to AML/KYC requests
  • Proofreading
  • Light administrative work
Requirements or Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience as legal or administrative assistant at a law firm or in house in the investment management area, preferably with direct experience in private fund formation
  • A self-directed individual with a high degree of attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills and ability to produce excellent final work product
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Experience working with senior leaders with ability to maintain poised, mature and dependable demeanor
